ROOM TO BE LITTLE

Childhood is meant
to be explored.

Small discoveries make a big difference. Here, learning grows through caring relationships, everyday play, and the freedom to wonder.See an example of our play-based learning

01 / DISCOVER

Little hands.
Real discoveries.

Seeds, soil, rocks, leaves, and a whole lot of curiosity. Hands-on exploration invites children to notice, predict, create, and try again.

02 / GROW

Fresh air.
Open-ended play.

Gardening, outdoor exploring, and imaginative play make room for movement, problem-solving, and the joy of being a child.

03 / BELONG

Big feelings.
A caring response.

We practice naming feelings, asking for help, taking calming breaths, and showing kindness. Connection helps confidence take root.

A LOOK AT OUR LEARNING

One small activity.
So much learning.

FROM A TINY SEED01 / 03

“What will grow?”

Children fill cups with soil, count their seeds, and add water. Watching for little changes gives them a reason to observe, ask questions, and care for something living.

AN EXAMPLE OF OUR PLAY-BASED LEARNING

From tiny seeds
to big discoveries.

Our produce curriculum: from planting to tasting to a day at the farm.

What does play-based learning look like? In our fruits-and-vegetables curriculum, children learned by doing—planting, exploring, reading, tasting, and cooking. Here’s how the learning unfolded, step by step.

  1. Plant it. Water it. Watch it grow.

Children planted seeds, watered them each day, and grew produce. Caring for living plants connected our everyday routines with growth, patience, and responsibility.

Learning in action: science, observation, and caring for living things.

  2. Bring the story to life.

We read books and learned the names, colors, and shapes of fruits and vegetables. The foods children met in stories became real things to notice, describe, and explore.

Learning in action: vocabulary, early literacy, and noticing shapes and differences.

  3. Taste, prepare, and discover.

Providence delivered boxes of fresh, locally grown produce to our facility each week. Children joined taste tests and helped prepare food. Cooking and repeated opportunities to explore foods invited curiosity about new flavors and textures.

Learning in action: sensory exploration, hands-on food preparation, and participation.

  4. Let the learning travel home.

Every family received produce to take home each week. At the end of the study, each child received farmers’ market vouchers for their family, connecting our learning with fresh food and our local community.

Learning in action: family connection, community awareness, and everyday learning beyond childcare.

STEP 05 · OUR GRAND FINALE · ANDERSON, CALIFORNIA

Off to
Providence Farm.

Our field trip connected the seeds we planted and the produce we explored with a visit to the farm itself.

  • A tractor ride and a farm maze to explore.
  • Live bees, a look at how honey is made, and honey tasting.
  • Snacks, crafts, and time together around the fire pit.
  • Giant zucchini for children to pick and take home.

Science. Language. Early math. Practical skills. Community.
A connected curriculum, experienced through play.

THERE’S NO ONE WAY TO GROW

Every child deserves
a place to belong.

Different personalities. Different needs. The same thoughtful care.

I value a close partnership with families. Getting to know a child’s interests, routines, communication, and ways of finding calm helps us build connection together.

  • Support for emotional skills and coping
  • Hands-on experiences with room for different ways to participate
  • Family conversations about what helps each child thrive

YOUR PROVIDER, YOUR PARTNERAlesha

OWNER & PROVIDER

Hi, I’m Alesha.

A mother of four, a childcare provider, and a lifelong believer in children’s possibilities.

I own and operate Pinky Promised Childcare here in Redding. I know how much it matters to feel comfortable with the person caring for your child, and I want families to feel seen and supported, too.

I’m continuing my education in Early Childhood Education and Social Science at Shasta College, with a particular interest in inclusion, emotional regulation, and supporting children with challenging behaviors.

GROWING WITH PURPOSE

My long-term dream is to open a center that supports children with autism and different developmental needs. That vision keeps me learning and brings intention to the care I offer today.

Where can I find tuition and policies?

Alesha can share current tuition, enrollment materials, and policies for your requested schedule. Asking about care does not reserve a space or commit your family to enrollment.
